We are off to France!

26/8/10 As excited as ever we are off to Provence for a week and then on to Paris for the Maison & Objet Trade Fair.

27/8/10 Arriving safely after 30 hours of travel we locate our hire car and we are off!!! Nerves always hit as you drive straight into the morning traffic at 130 km into the fast lane on the wrong side of the road. My husband is so confident now with the driving in Paris it's like he is at the grand prix race track, ducking & weaving in the Parisian traffic.

After a few hours on the road & now enjoying the French countryside we stop at a road house to enjoy our first croissant of the trip. Who would believe you can get great baguettes and pastry's from a truck stop. Only in France!
After a little more driving about 31/2 in total we stop for the night in a small town near Lyon at a stunning bed & breakfast called "Chateau les Roches". Greeted by two charming men Tobias and Marco, who run the B & B. It was so beautiful, it had all the comforts of a Chateau, filled with antiques and the furniture that is truly French style. It had a beautiful dinning room that we had a sumptuous dinner cooked and served by our hosts and the following morning a lovely breakfast, fresh croissants, baguettes, fruit, meats and fresh juices.

What I love about France is that in each region you visit local produce is very much supported, from the soaps in the room to the jam on the breakfast table, everything is from that region.

28/8/10 We left early this morning as we were going to the first market of our trip in Annecy on the way to Provence.
